I waited patiently

Zavier is a sweet, patient, and happy 6 year old. But I read about some kids with autism who changed when they hit puberty, so I decided to start working on the concept of "waiting patiently" now.

First, I wrote the words "I waited patiently" on a cue card. I had Zavier read it at appropriate times. After a few days, it began to sink in, and now he gets it.

Zavier: "Mommy, can I play computer?"
Me: "Yes, just wait a few more minutes please."
Zavier: (after a few minutes) "Mommy, click X. I want computer. I waited patiently."
Me: "Yeah, you waited patiently. Ok, you can have it."
